Access Information

We acknowledge that there are access challenges inherent in our heritage buildings and planning is underway to address these. We are also always open to learning about ways to embed accessibility into our events and welcome feedback. If we have not met your access requirements, please let us know by either emailing us, phoning or popping into our offices at the Old Courthouse.

  • The Old Courthouse Complex

The courthouse complex currently has wheel chair access via the Exercise yard – which leads into the cell complex, historic police station and day room as well as the original courtroom which is at present housing our gift shop. Wheel chair access is also available into the Bond Store which is an exhibition and function space which exudes both history and charm. Please speak to onsite staff and volunteers to gain access if required.

    Artist Studios

The studio of the Artist in Residence is accessible by wheelchair users.

    Acting Up

There is wheelchair access at the rear of the Acting Up studio.

    Busselton Art Society

There is wheelchair access at the rear of the Busselton Art Society gallery and studios.

    Saltwater

Saltwater is designed to be fully accessible and every space within the venue is accessible by wheelchair users, including a dedicated backstage dressing room and space for 13 wheelchairs within the main theatre auditorium.

  • Accessible toilet facilities are available in the courtyard space adjacent to the Art Society building.

  • The answer is YES!! We have guides to assist all who will relate stories and information regarding the complex. We are at present installing an audio experience “Stories from the Cells” which tells of historical events of all kinds. The Merenj Boodja garden provides a tactile experience from bush tucker of the region and is adjacent to the courtyard garden.

  • The complex has a small parking lot behind the Merenj boodja garden and this has one accessible parking bay. Alternatively, there are hundreds of parking bays across Marine Terrace, closer to Busselton foreshore.
