Collective Works by Angelina Naglazas

Angelina Naglazas

2 May - 3 June 2024

My artistic journey is fundamentally about being someone who loves to paint.

My work is mainly delivered by way of a freshness and brightness of colour and a spontaneity of the abstract.

I prefer to work with acrylic paint mainly and I usually work on several canvases simultaneously. I like to work that way as it gives me a sense of freedom and looseness with my form making and my brush strokes. I prefer not to work one just one piece as that creates a sense of becoming obsessively focussed on that one piece. Working with several canvases also extends my creative energy to enable me to have time to have a relationship with each of my “works in progress” paintings as well as allowing me to explore and extend the dynamics of each individual piece.

Artist Statement

My ritual of starting any painting is to focus of the canvas, blank or underpainted, by sitting meditating with view of that surface, I make initial choice of colours, and laden with colour I  let the brush dance around the canvas bringing form to life, feeling the juiciness and with the smell of the paint, it takes my mind to a place of healing and love which ignites my creativity.

The approach of my creating comes from the understanding of loss, grief and love all the way to the journey of healing.

I paint in several different styles, mark making, blended colour fields, modern abstract landscape, modern abstract seascapes and organic colour formations. In my Bond Store Exhibition, I have chosen a display of artwork bursting with bright colourful happy floral paintings’ along with a few of my abstract landscapes where colour meets form, for you all to enjoy.
