Wander Out Yonder is an entirely self-funded project, that started as a single image to capture the memory of a camping trip that Fi took to Karijini. A Margaret River based Artist, she has had a long held dream to take to the road and see what is further out there - routinely taking her sketchbook in hand, she hikes, bird watches and researches what ever peaks her interest within the local natural world. Any chance encounter with a creature or plant, might become the inspiration for an image that she can feel, captures her experience and sense of, the place.

Now a collection of more than 20 original images,  it’s Fi’s desire to find a way to keep travelling the exhibition, share her skills via workshops and artist talks and enthuse visitors with a desire to record their own travel memories in a unique way, build their creativity and most importantly celebrate and value the incredible diverse landscapes and iconic species we have here in WA.

Created using Painted Paper Collage, Fi’s collection is a joyful, colourful and carefully observed series of illustrations, which continues to grow as she travels around the state.

The exhibition and  workshop series has visited a diverse collection of regional towns, showing up at commercial galleries and arts groups, community arts centres and has allowed her to work alongside school children and adults who are either travelling thru or living within those communities.

Each image has a story to go with it, and each location, bird, plant or animal is used only after being witnessed in the landscape.

In addition to her very popular, beginner friendly workshops, a series of fine art prints, gift cards, tea towels, enamel mugs, stickers has been created to help support the project.

While in Busselton Fi will add to the collection with new images inspired by snorkeling  at the jetty and birdwatching in the Wonnerup wetlands - she looks forward to welcoming you to to her space in the courthouse complex between March 4th and April 7th where you can join a workshop, bring your own stories of place and experience with our local landscape to share or purchase a piece of her work.

Enjoy the sample of works below. As the artists complete their works, more images will be added to the image gallery.

To see the entire collection, please visit the Old Courthouse Complex between 10am - 4pm daily during the exhibition.
