Fragile

Sharon Williams and Kay Manolas

13 October - 15 November 2022

Ceramicist Kay Manolas and painter Sharon Williams have combined their talents in ArtGeo’s latest exhibition “Fragile”.  When these talented artists discovered a mutual love of the local environment, the concept was born.

Due to open to the public on Thursday 13 October, this show will be a visual feast.

Kay is inspired by the intricate forms from the flora and fauna of the region.  She revels in the challenge it presents while replicating these structures through their form and texture.  On display will be her recently completed 1.7 m tall seed pod totem.

Sharon has chosen to showcase individual elements of the environment with small oil paintings that hint of bigger issues.  These items were chosen as she encountered them on her walks through the forest, wetland and beach of her home area.

“Our environment is facing unprecedented challenges.  We have been horrified by wild fires and over development of the land.  The impacts seen locally on a small scale are multiplied many times over worldwide. The environment is so fragile and Kay’s pottery is breakable.  The title of the show just seemed to fit!” said Sharon Williams.
