Step into Whispers of the Wild, a captivating textile exhibition by the Busselton members of the WA Fibre and Textile Association (WAFTA). Inspired by the diverse landscapes, flora and fauna of Western Australia’s South West, this collection showcases fibre art in all its forms - from delicate stitchwork and weaving to bold textile sculptures and surface design.
Each piece echoes the untamed rhythms of nature, inviting visitors to reconnect with the land through thread, texture and touch. View all exhibition pieces here.

Sewing Demonstrations
Daily during Whispers of the Wild
During Whispers of the Wild, visitors can enjoy daily sewing demonstrations presented by talented WAFTA members.
Head over to the Police Station in the Old Courthouse Complex, where artists will be stitching, creating, and sharing the techniques and inspirations behind their fibre art. See the craftsmanship up close and gain a deeper appreciation for the work featured in the exhibition.

Opening Event & Market Day

Nationally renowned textile artist, Merle Topsi Davis will officially open Whispers of the Wild on behalf of the Busselton WAFTA group.
The opening will feature a pop-up textile and artisan market, with unique handmade works available for purchase directly from the makers.
Artist Talks & Garden Market
11am · Saturday 24 January 2026
Join selected exhibiting artists for insightful talks about their creative process and inspiration. A second market stall will be held outdoors in the Merenj Boodja Gardens, offering another chance to meet the makers and take home a piece of the wild.

Join Barbara Weeks for a morning of creative, meditative felt making, exploring the magical properties of merino wool and how you can make your mark with the addition of a variety of fibres and yarns.
Suited to all levels, working individually to suit your experience and ideas. 18+
