Resistance and Resilience
Ceramic Sculptures

The natural environment creates repetitious forms and elements that evoke clarity and beauty, chaos and order. There is an intrinsic connection between the quality of clay forms and the living environment. They are both durable but also incredibly fragile. Our need to create and surround ourselves with objects and convenience items is often unsustainable. My sculptures aim to demonstrate the paradox between the human need to create objects of beauty and nature’s fight to survive. Single use objects are embedded into our lifestyles. They are timesaving and throw away items that function well for the purpose of convenience. But the sheer volume of these objects impacts on the ecological well-being of the planet.
