The Day Room
Built in 1861 by Henry Yelverton, the Day Room forms part of the heritage-listed Old Courthouse Complex. Originally, it served as a supervised communal space attached to the cell block, where detainees spent time outside their cells - waiting for court or preparing for transfer.
Positioned between the Gaol Cells and the Police Station, this light-filled, character-rich room now offers a striking contrast to its past.
Today, the Day Room provides a beautiful setting for exhibitions by emerging artists.
